Department Introduction

Our Department of Radio-Television Cinema; Firstly, as the Department of Cinema and Television, it started its education life under the roof of the Faculty of Fine Arts of our university as of 2003-2004 academic year. As of 2011, it continues its education life as the Department of Radio-Television and Cinema under the Faculty of Communication. It aims to train qualified staff who are committed to ethical values, creative and analytical thinking in the field of audio-visual media, which constitutes the most important field of the "communication" profession. The Department of Radio-Television and Cinema, which is one of the six departments of our faculty, receives a total of 145 students every year in formal and secondary education programs. As of the 2013-2014 academic year, our department has started to accept students for the secondary education program.

In our department, our students are provided with the technical requirements required for the studies they want to do in their fields through the latest equipment and systems. Many films shot with these opportunities have been shown in various festivals and won important awards in competitions. In addition to working on their own individual projects and school productions, our students gain their first sectoral experience by practicing at our Kampüs FM radio station broadcasting in Çanakkale. In 2019, MO-CAP (Moving Image Capture) Studio was added to the Radio- Television and Cinema application workshops and studios.

Shooting and Editing Studios - Digital Image and Design Center / (MO-CAP)

In our studio of approximately 50 square meters, students have the opportunity to shoot and edit for TV Journalism. In these studios where practical courses on TV Journalism are also given; the technical basics of TV Journalism are transferred to students.

In addition, within the scope of the South Marmara Development Agency (GMKA), Vocational Education Development Support Program, the 'Digital Image Design and Training Center' project, which we put into operation on behalf of the Rectorate of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ), was successfully prepared for operation in 2019. As a department, our students can also benefit from all the possibilities of MO-CAP (Moving Image Capture) studios, which we established with a budget of 759.156.91 TL, by breaking new ground at the technological level. Our students learn how to give movement to animation characters in this studio. In addition, a system for capturing facial movements known as Facial Capture is also used in this system for more realistic motion capture.  In the shooting and editing studios, our students have the opportunity to evaluate their theoretical knowledge in practice and to practice simultaneously with courses such as animation and motion capture techniques.
